     The organization known as the Lace Monkeys, which is located here in Bedford, Indiana, is a group dedicated to many forms of lace making.  The focus of the Lace Monkeys will be community formation, educational opportunities and demonstrations in various locations, including historical re-enactments. 

The Lace Monkeys are charter chapter member of the International Organization of Lace, Inc.

Elaine

Elaine Rile, a reaccuring student at the Bedford College of Lace Making and a master knitter in her own right.  Elaine has studied Needle Tatting, Huck Weaving and is currently interested in Lace Knitting.  Also she has become a charter member in the Lace Monkeys and is a member of I.O.L.I.

Ginger (a.k.a. Aunt Polly Nutmeg)

Ginger East, a former student at the Bedford College of Lace Making, where she has been studying Bobbin Lace and Needle Tatting.  Ginger has been participating / volunteering at Spring Mill State Park's Pioneer Village where she demonstrated open hearth cooking, spinning and lace making.  Also Ginger has become a charter member of the Lace Monkeys.

Julanna (a.k.a. Aunt Polly Lacille)

 Julanna J. Hornocker, a reaccuring student at the Bedford College of Lace Making. Julanna has studied Needle Tatting and Lace Netting.  Also she has been participating at fiber art festivals and volunteering at Spring Mill State Park's Pioneer Village.   Recently Julanna has become a charter member of the Lace Monkeys.

Kenna (a.k.a. Aunt Polly Rue)

Kenna J. Hodges, a current student and tutor at the Bedford College of Lace Making, where she has been studying Bobbin Lace, Needle Tatting, Netting, Pulled & Drawn Thread and Huck Weaving.  Kenna has been participating at fiber art festivals, lace festivals and most importantly volunteering at Spring Mill State Park's Pioneer Village.  Kenna has recently become a charter member of the Lace Monkeys and a member of I.O.L.I.

Lara

Lara E. Zilafro, a reaccuring student at the Bedford College of Lace Making and a charter member of the Lace Monkeys.  Lara has studied Needle Tatting, Knitting, Crochet and Lace Netting.  Lara is also a reenactor in the World War II era as well as the Renaissance era and has demonstrated various types of lace making at her events.

Pastor Michelle White

Michelle White, a reaccuring student at the Bedford College of Lace Making and the pastor at the United Methodist Church. Michelle has studied Bobbin Lace and a recent member of the Lace Monkeys.

Shannon Minshall

Shannon Minshall, a recent member of the Lace Monkeys and our resident sock knitter. Shannon has participated at different fiber art festivals and craft venues for years as well as teaching beginners the art of sock knitting.  Shannon is also married and the mother of three lovely daughters.

Shannon M. Pickett, a reaccuring student and tutor at the Bedford College of Lace Making. Shannon has studied Bobbin Lace and Pulled & Drawn Thread and she has been participating at fiber art festivals and volunteering at Spring Mill State Park's Pioneer Village for years.

Stephen (a.k.a. Nestor Bester)

Stephen G. Bowman, besides being the founder of the Bedford College of Lace Making, he is also a charter member of the Lace Monkeys as well as a member of I.O.L.I., Lafayette Lacers, the Heartland Lace Guild and the Bloomington Lace Guild.

Vicki (a.k.a. Aunt Polly)

Vicki Houte, a current student at the Bedford College of Lace Making.  Vicki is a relative new comer to lace making, as she just started in 2014 but she is quickly gaining ground in her bobbin lace techniques and has even joined the demonstrators at Spring Mill State Park.   Vicki is also a charter member of the Lace Monkeys and a member of I.O.L.I.
